Nicosia - The Cypriot government expects that the judgment delivered by the European Court of Human Rights on Thursday will promote a just solution to the Cyprus problem in conformity with the European Convention on Human Rights, reports Michael Jansen.

The Cyprus Attorney General, Mr Alecos Markides, yesterday welcomed the court's verdict on Turkey's 1974 occupation of northern Cyprus. The court listed 14 violations of the Convention, including the fundamental rights of families to know what happened to missing relatives and of refugees to return home.
