Havana - Cuban state security detained opposition activists over the weekend to prevent protests planned to coincide with the seventh anniversary of a violent antigovernment riot in Havana, dissident sources said yesterday.
Most of the detentions appeared to be temporary measures to stop various gatherings and a march planned by the dissidents for Sunday, a local human rights' group said.
