Renewed appeal as Co Offaly murder victim to be buried tomorrow

Thomas ‘Toddy’ Dooley found dead in his home on Sunday

The funeral of Offaly murder victim Thomas “Toddy” Dooley is due to take place tomorrow.

The 64-year-old was discovered dead at his home in Sister Senan Court, Edenderry, on Sunday afternoon.

Mr Dooley, who lived alone, was found on a couch in his living room with injuries to his upper body and head.

Gardaí began a murder investigation following a postmortem at the Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore, on Monday.

He is due be laid to rest in St Mary’s Cemetery following noon Mass at St Mary’s Church in Edenderry.

Garda investigations are ongoing and an incident room has been set up at Tullamore Garda station. "We are making substantial progress and we are getting an excellent response from the public," said Insp Kieran Keyes.

“We would appeal to anyone who encountered him, spoke to him or had any contact with him in recent days to contact us.”

Gardaí are studying CCTV and carrying out door-to-door inquiries in an effort to trace Mr Dooley’s final movements.
