Man’s body discovered at house in Waterford

Property sealed off for technical examination and State pathologist has been notified

Gardaí were last night appealing for information following the discovery of a man’s body in a house in Co Waterford.

A statement from the Garda said detectives were investigating “all the circumstances” following the discovery of the body at the rear of a house on Francis Street in Waterford city.

The body was discovered by members of the Garda at approximately 2.30pm. Upon making the discovery, officers called for an ambulance to be dispatched to the property but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body remained at the house last night.

A spokesman for the Garda said an approximate age for the man was unknown.

The office of the State pathologist was contacted by investigating detectives and the area was sealed off for a technical examination.

A post mortem will be carried out today at University Hospital Waterford.
