Man in hospital after stabbing in Co Tipperary

Gardai have arrested a man in his 30s in connection with the incident

A man has been taken to hospital after a stabbing in Co Tipperary.

The incident happened in the early hours of this morning at the entrance road to Monakeeba in Thurles.

The 22-year-old victim was taken in an ambulance to Clonmel Hospital where his condition was described as stable.

A man in his 30s was arrested and taken to Thurles Garda Station where he is being held under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

A knife was discovered at the scene during a follow-up search.

The area has been sealed off for a technical and forensic examination.

Gardai have appealed for witnesses.
