Gardaí in Limerick have arrested a man and seized a firearm following a planned search of a house in the city.

Gardaí from Roxboro Road, the Divisional Drug Unit and the Dog Unit searched the house at Clarina Avenue in Ballinacurra Weston around 8pm last night.

The firearm is currently being technically examined.

The man is being detained at Henry Street Garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.
