Man arrested after cannabis plants discovered in Roscommon

Drugs worth estimated €280,000 found growing in house in Athleague

A man has been arrested following the discovery of cannabis plants worth an estimated €280,000 at a house in Roscommon.

Gardaí searched the house in a rural location in the Athleague area this morning as part of a planned operation targeting the cultivation of cannabis.

The plants were discovered growing under lamps in the house.

The man, who is in his late 20s, was arrested at the scene and is being detained at Roscommon Garda station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
