Gardaí investigating armed robbery on Baggot Street

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to an armed robbery on Baggot Street in Dublin yesterday.

Two men dressed as construction workers entered a branch of Permanent TSB at around 12.40pm, one armed with a handgun and the other with a crowbar. They threatened staff and left with a sum of money.

No shots were fired and no one was injured.

When they exited the bank they made their way through a crowd of pedestrians who were standing at the junction of Baggot Street Upper and Haddington Road.

The raiders continued onto Haddington Road, before crossing over to the junction of Haddington Road/Percy Place where it is believed they fled in an unidentified vehicle.

The first man is described as being 5ft 11 inches in height and of heavy build. He was wearing a hi-visibility jacket, dark bottoms, a black woolly hat, and a white painter’s mask.

The second man is around 5ft 8 inches in height, wearing a black builder’s jacket with grey florescent stripes, a black woolly hat and a black scarf over his face.

Gardaí are appealing to members of the public who were in the Baggot Street Upper area at the time of the robbery just before lunch yesterday, or to anyone who may have information about this robbery to contact the Gardaí at Irishtown Garda station at 01-6669632, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
