Connemara man (29) sentenced for possesion of child pornography

Sean Stewart pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography, sentencing adjourned

A 29- year-old Connemara man will be sentenced next week for possessing child pornography at a rented house in the city last year.

Sean Stewart, from Drumaveg, Moycullen, pleaded guilty on Wednesday morning before Galway Circuit Criminal Court o a single charge of having child pornography in his possession.

He was charged with possessing pornography containing visual representations relating to persons who were or who were depicted as being children under the age of 17 years and who were engaged in explicit sexual activity.

The pornography was found on a HP G60 laptop, on a Scandisk Cruzer USB stick, on a Samsung GT-15500 mobile phone and on a Samsung GT-5839i mobile phone, at a house in Gort na Glaise, Sandy Road, Galway, on November 27, 2013.

Defence barrister, Bernard Condon SC, told the court the prosecuting Garda was not available on Wednesday and he asked for the sentence to be adjourned to next week.

Judge Rory McCabe agreed to adjourn sentence to next Wednesday, March 25th.
