CRH has bought Mount Hope Rock Products, a New Jersey quarry firm, for $138 million plus a deferred consideration of $6 million, the company said today.

Mount Hope is an integrated aggregates, asphalt and paving company operating in northern New Jersey and New York City.

CRH plans to integrate Mount Hope with its existing Tilicon New York operation, which serves metropolitan New York, southern New York state and New Jersey.

In the year to March 2001 Mount Hope produced 4.1 million tons of aggregates and 1.4 million tons of asphalt. Its sales amounted to $105 million, with adjusted trading profits of $13 million.
