A jury has been told that a criminal and drug-dealer, the late Peter "Psycho" Judge, was behind the kidnapping and murder of Michael Godfrey in April 1993.

Mr Martin Dunne (43), of Collins Drive, Finglas, has pleaded not guilty to the false imprisonment of Mr Godfrey (55) and Mr Paul Carwood (29) at the North Circular Road, Dublin, on April 3rd, 1993.

The jury at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court has been told that Mr Dunne and P.J. Judge, who was also known as "Judge Dread", carried out a trial-run of the abduction on the previous night, April 2nd.

Judge Yvonne Murphy has said that it is not contended that Mr Dunne was in any way involved in the subsequent murder of Mr Godfrey.
