Half of €132m EuroMillions jackpot scooped by Irish person

Other winner is from France but no details have yet emerged about where in Republic ticket was bought

Half of Friday night’s EuroMillions jackpot has been won by an Irish person.

The winning numbers were 1, 5, 23, 29 and 32. The Lucky Stars are 1 and 7.

There were two winners of the first prize jackpot of €132.38 million which means both scoop €66.19 million each.

It is not yet known exactly where the winning ticket was sold.

The other winner is from France.

It is the third highest amount ever won by an Irish person in the EuroMillions.

In September 2014 a Euromillions jackpot worth €86.7 million was won by a syndicate in Dublin.

In July 2013, one Irish winner scooped a jackpot of almost €94 million in the EuroMillions lottery but remained anonymous.

Dolores McNamara holds the record for the largest ever win. The Co Limerick woman scooped over €115 million in 2005.

In July 2008, a €15 million winning ticket was sold in Carrick-on-Suir, Co Tipperary, while a €29.4 million jackpot-winning ticket was sold in Dublin in June 2009.

EuroMillions is played in nine countries – Austria, Belgium, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the UK.
