Live jazz, dinner and a glass of wine for €15 – that’s the real deal on Wednesday nights at The House restaurant in Howth, Co Dublin, throughout February and March. For that you could have a home-smoked fish plate with pickled fennel and cucumber salad and a glass of Entre-deux-mers, McGeogh’s charcuterie and Irish cheese board with a glass of Valpolicella, or pork and leek sausages and mash with a glass of Redfin Shiraz.

Or return to the main menu and spend a bit extra, perhaps, for skate wings, one of the signature dishes we would recommend. But we are especially partial to their all-day brunch menu on Saturdays and Sundays, served in a buzzy atmosphere. Jazzwise you might find Alex Mathias on tenor sax and So-Young Yoon on piano, or Rock Fox on baritone sax and Hugh Buckley on guitar playing from the songbooks of Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Count Basie . . . it kicks off next week with the first duo playing Rat Pack favourites.
