A theatre in Dublin must provide up to 25 security staff to chaperon patrons leaving the premises when it closes, under conditions imposed on its licence by a judge yesterday.

Events at the Temple Theatre, Temple Street, must finish by 2 a.m. and the security personnel are to present themselves in fluorescent yellow tunics outside the premises by 1.50 a.m.

The conditions were written into the music, singing and dancing licences, following objections by residents of a flats complex in Temple Street.

The 25 security staff are only to be in place on nights of maximum occupancy and reduced on a pro-rata basis.
