THE COMMUNITY Services Programme (CSP) celebration day is being held today, with over 200 community groups organising events across the Republic.
The CSP carries out a huge range of caring and community services daily, but it can be invisible and forgotten, according to Jill Carey, chairwoman of the CSP national network.
“The Government must recognise their valuable work and ensure the programme which supports CSPs is not subject to further cuts. CSPs also provide much-needed employment and huge benefits in their areas.”
There are more than 420 CSP programmes providing employment for approximately 3,000 people. A list of events taking place today is available from www.irishrurallink.ie
