Washington - President Clinton has decided not to appeal a court ruling against his effort to shield two White House officials from testifying by invoking executive privilege, the White House said yesterday.

Mr Clinton had invoked executive privilege to keep Deputy White House Counsel, Mr Bruce Lindsey, and an adviser, Mr Sidney Blumenthal, from appearing before a grand jury investigating witness tampering and perjury allegations against the president. A US District Court ruled against Clinton's position in early May.
