Catherine Leonard the leading Irish violinist of her generation, opens a short celebration of the music of Bach in West Cork next Friday.

She's giving a recital of three works for solo violin (the First Sonata and the Second and Third Partitas) at St James' Church in Durrus. She features as one of the soloists (along with flautist William Dowdall and oboist Matthew Manning) in an all-Bach programme from the Orchestra of St Cecilia under Geoffrey Spratt in Bantry (St Brendan's Church) the following night.

And on Sunday 30th, the focus moves to Bantry House for a performance of the Goldberg Variations by Angela Hewitt, one of the world's leading exponents of Bach on the piano. This should make an interesting contrast to Malcolm Proud's performance on harpsichord, heard at the same venue during the recent West Cork Chamber Music Festival.
