The decentralisation of civil servants outside of Dublin will not be supported by the Federated Union of Government Employees.

At its bi-annual general meeting in Liberty Hall, Dublin, today the union said moving Government departments outside of Dublin would lead to a loss of earnings and serious disruption for its members.

According to the union, not of its 1,300 members have volunteered for a transfer out of the capital.

The union, whose membership is composed of non-clerical grades in the civil service called on the Minister for Finance, Mr McCreevey to address these concerns.
