Washington - Comments attributed yesterday to the head of the CIA by the British Daily Star were "rubbish" and "completely false", a CIA spokesman has said, Patrick Smyth reports.

Responding to queries about the Star's claim that Mr George Tenet had specifically warned of the danger of attacks by terrorists on Sellafield and of potentially catastrophic consequences to Ireland, the spokesman said "Mr Tenet did not make any such statements".

He added that he was not aware of any CIA advice to the British authorities about Sellafield.
