The Government has arranged for parking in the Jurys Inn car park on Dublin's Werburgh Street to be free to those attending Easter Sunday services in nearby Christ Church Cathedral.
It follows representations last week to the Taoiseach by the Church of Ireland Archbishop of Dublin, Dr John Neill, about plans to seal off areas near Christ Church from Holy Saturday, before the 1916 commemoration parade next Sunday.
There were fears people might be unable to attend the Easter vigil or the 11am Eucharist service at Christ Church on Easter Sunday. The parade is due to begin at Dublin Castle, continuing down Dame Street to O'Connell Street via Westmoreland Street.
The Church of Ireland will be represented on the reviewing stand. The Jurys Inn car park on Werburgh Street can be entered from 8am until 11.15am next Sunday. For those travelling from the south or east, access to the car park will be from the Heytesbury Street/Bride Street end with a counter flow in operation at Werburgh Street.
For those travelling from the west or the north, access will be from the north quays through Bridge Street and Francis Street, turning left to pass Kevin Street Garda station and turning left into Bride Street. There will be a Garda presence in the area.
The Dean of Christ Church, the Very Rev Desmond Harman, said: "We were very concerned initially that closing the area to traffic would make it difficult and perhaps impossible for worshippers to find parking and attend services in the cathedral.
"However, the arrangements now in place are very satisfactory and I am very grateful to the gardaí, the Army and the Taoiseach's office for their support, understanding and assistance.
"I hope to join others at the parade after our service."
