The lack of prosecutions over the findings of the Moriarty tribunal was “quite sickening” and the same must not be allowed to happen with the Mahon report, Labour MEP Nessa Childers has said in a statement. She has also called on Fianna Fáil to contact the Criminal Assets Bureau and make an immediate official complaint to the Garda about the donation of £50,000 (€63,000) obtained by former European commissioner Pádraig Flynn.

The Mahon tribunal said the money was given to Mr Flynn by developer Tom Gilmartin as a party donation but the then- environment minister used it for personal benefit. Mr Flynn has rejected the findings.

Ms Childers said: “It is quite sickening that no action has been taken so far by our criminal justice system on the Moriarty tribunal findings. We cannot have the same go-slow approach to the Mahon tribunal.”
