A quantity of dinitrophenylhydrazine was discovered at to Coláiste Iosaef secondary school in Killmallock during a routine audit of chemicals today.

The substance is routinely used in laboratories but can crystallise and become unstable over time.

An Army bomb disposal team arrived on scene at 1.15pm and the chemicals were removed to a safe location for a controlled explosion. The all-clear was given at 2.15pm.
