The Department of Foreign Affairs has introduced a cheap-rate phone service for applicants for Irish passports resident from the North.
The phone number from the North is 0845 8504321 and calls cost a maximum of 4p a minute. Northern applicants for passports have increased from 7,779 in 1994 to 21,434 last year.
