A FORMER hospital groundskeeper who claimed he was bullied and constantly harassed by his employers and suffered hearing damage from having to use noisy lawn-mowing equipment has settled his High Court action against the HSE.

Joseph Hallahan (53), from Kinsalebeg, Co Waterford, had sued arising from his employment as a groundskeeper for various hospitals and health board facilities in Dungarvan, Co Waterford, between 1982 to 2000. He sought damages for alleged negligence and breach of duty of care. The HSE had denied the claims.

Yesterday, on the second day of the hearing, Mr Justice Vivan Lavan was told the matter had been resolved and could be struck out.

No details of the settlement, which was without admission of liability, were revealed to the court.
