An Irish fishing captain was last night charged with four breaches of EU fishing regulations when he appeared at a special sitting of Cobh District Court.

Mr Arthur Hand, from Ballyhea, Dingle, who is denying the four counts while master of the Dingle registered Golden Feather, was sent for trial to Cork Circuit Criminal Court on October 18th.

He was remanded on his own bail of £90 while his vessel was released from detention at Haulbowline, after its owner, Mr Michael John Graham, lodged a £90,000 bond in court.
