Cannabis worth €177,000 seized in Dublin

Customs officers have seized cannabis with an estimated street value of €177,000 at Dublin airport .

Nearly 15 kilogrammes of the drug were discovered on Saturday evening when officers examined the baggage of a 34-year-old Spanish man who had recently arrived on a flight from Bilbao.

The cannabis, in herbal and resin form, was hidden in 12 slabs wrapped in plastic bags and as 240 pellets in a suitcase. A man was arrested at the scene.

He appeared in court this morning where he was remanded in custody to appear again next Thursday.

To date this year customs officers have seized drugs worth over €3.1million at Dublin airport.
