Customs officers have seized cannabis with an estimated street value of €177,000 at Dublin airport.

Customs officers have seized cannabis with an estimated street value of €177,000 at Dublin airport .

Nearly 15 kilogrammes of the drug were discovered on Saturday evening when officers examined the baggage of a 34-year-old Spanish man who had recently arrived on a flight from Bilbao.

The cannabis, in herbal and resin form, was hidden in 12 slabs wrapped in plastic bags and as 240 pellets in a suitcase. A man was arrested at the scene.

He appeared in court this morning where he was remanded in custody to appear again next Thursday.
