A businessman was arrested by detectives in Dublin today.

A businessman was arrested by detectives in Dublin today.

Jim Kennedy (63), who has been wanted for questioning by the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) for the last seven years, had been living in Gibraltar.

A Garda source confirmed he was arrested at 4.15pm on Arran Quay and taken to Irishtown Garda station under section four of the Criminal Justice Act.

Mr Kennedy will be questioned about his alleged involvement with Jackson Way Properties, which owns 17 acres of land at Carrickmines that was rezoned for development in 1997. The lands were frozen by the CAB in 2005.

The businessman, who was also involved in running an amusement arcade on Dublin’s Westmoreland Street, was believed to be living in the Isle of Man and Gibraltar.

Mr Kennedy can be held at Irishtown Garda station for up to 12 hours.
