Hollywood actress Michelle Yeoh, who stars as pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi in an upcoming film, has been deported from Burma.

A Burmese government official said today that the Malaysian actress arrived in Rangoon on June 22nd and was deported the same day because she was on a government blacklist.

The official did not say why Yeoh was on the list.

Suu Kyi spokesman Nyan Win confirmed Yeoh was deported but did not know why.

The Luc Besson film about Ms Suu Kyi's life, The Lady, is due out in October.

Ms Suu Kyi spent most of the last two decades detained by the former military junta. She was released last year.
