SOFIA - Bulgarians elect a new parliament today in early elections to replace a leftist dominated legislature which was dissolved in February after violent protests against the ruling former communists.

Altogether 38 political parties are putting up candidates for the elections, but only the ruling Bulgarian Socialist Party, the opposition coalition and three smaller parties are given a chance of winning seats in parliament.
