A man who pleaded guilty to keeping two brothels in Dublin yesterday paid £5,000 to the poor box in Dublin District Court 6.

Brian O'Byrne (36), of Templeview Row, Malahide Road, Co Dublin, had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to keeping a brothel at Parnell Street and North Lotts.

Judge Desmond Windle remanded O'Byrne on continuing bail for six weeks for a community service order report and recommended that he do 240 hours' community service in lieu of six months in prison. He also bound him to keep the peace for two years.

Judge Windle said there had been evidence at an earlier hearing in the case that O'Byrne had made a profit of approximately £19,000 from the two brothels over a four-month period.
