The Contract Bridge Association of Ireland's national pairs championship for the Lambert Cup will be decided over two sessions on January 24th (1.30 p.m.) in the Cork Bridge Club. The event is confined to players of the master or intermediate A grades. Entries: Paul Porteous (01269 7275).
The overall top placings in the multi-venue, national intermediate A pairs championship (New Ireland Trophy) were - 1, J. Dullea, J. Wallis (Limerick); 2, D. O'Brien, J. O'Flynn (Cork); 3, B. and J. Quinn (Limerick). Cork gained the top three places in the similarly-run novice pairs (Waterford Crystal Trophy) - 1, E. McCarthy, H. Lynch; 2, T. Murphy, A. Mulcahy; 3, D. White, L. O'Hanlon.

The South County Dublin team championship, which gives entry to the all-Ireland inter-county championship (Burke Trophy), will be run on January 21st and 28th in the Roadstone Club, Kingswood.
