A brain-injured Dublin man who is considered a potential danger has been transferred from temporary imprisonment into his parents' care because there is no bed available for him at the Central Mental Hospital.

The 28-year-old man, described as a potential danger to himself and society, pleaded guilty to larceny in 1998 and 1999. He is awaiting sentencing, but has been described as "unfit for prison" because of his injuries.

Judge Frank O'Donnell, who expressed great reluctance to imprison him, remanded him in custody to Cloverhill Prison on Friday with a recommendation that he be transferred to the hospital as soon as possible.
