A BOY who was involved in a farm accident was awarded £44,145 damages in an proved settlement in the High Court in Cork yesterday.

Denis Gerard Collins (13), from Mountkeefe, Newmarket, Co Cork, sued Mr Patrick Collins, of the same address, for injuries he received when his foot got caught while he was travelling on a tractor tow bar which was pulling a trailer on June 30th, 1995.

The boy was travelling on the tow bar of the tractor when it hit a pothole and he was dislodged. He put his left foot out to save himself and his heel was crushed between the tyre and the mudguard. He has a lump on the back of his heel which requires him to wear a larger shoe.
