A 16-year-old boy has been assaulted in what police described as a paramilitary style-attack in west Belfast.

A PSNI spokeswoman said the victim was dragged off the pavement at Lady Street last night and bundled into a car.

His attackers put a hood or bag over his head and drove him to an unknown location.

According to police, the boy was beaten and interrogated by a gang of men before being driven back to the Beechmount Street area, where he was released.

His ordeal is thought to have lasted for a several hours.

He was later treated in the Royal Victoria Hospital for his injuries.
