Lee Bowyer will meet Terry Venables for talks about his Leeds future tomorrow amid reports that he will again refuse to sign the club's new contract offer.

Bowyer is due to meet up with Venables in Melbourne on the latest leg of the club's pre-season tour of the Far East and Australia.

It will be the first time Bowyer has met his new boss and Venables is expected to try to persuade him to pledge his future to the club following the collapse of his Stg£9 million move to Liverpool.

Leeds want to end all the uncertainty over Bowyer's future by getting him to sign the five-year deal, worth a reported £40,000 a week, which has remained on the table since he turned it down at the end of last season.

Although Bowyer has been quick to publicly pledge his loyalty to the club for next season, he has been careful not to commit himself beyond the next 12 months when he will be out of contract.

Leeds fear he may sit out the last year of his current deal at Elland Road and then leave for nothing on a free transfer.

They are anxious to avoid losing Bowyer for nothing and that is why they were willing to sell the 25-year-old to Liverpool.

Bowyer's agent David Geiss refused to discuss the controversial midfielder's future plans and he said: "He's flown out to Melbourne where I expect he will meet Terry Venables, but I have no further comment."

If Bowyer does tell Venables he still will not sign on the dotted line then the club may try again to offload him this summer.

However following the acrimonious collapse of his move to Liverpool, potential suitors may be reluctant to step in now when they can pick him up for nothing next summer.
