A post-mortem today is expected to establish that a body discovered at the bottom of cliffs on the west Donegal coast is that of the missing German student, Ms Constanze Czerwinske.

The 22-year-old's family are due to fly to Donegal from Potsdam, near Berlin, this morning to identify the remains.

A Garda search party found the body washed ashore at Glen Head, Glencolmcille, 700 yards from where Ms Czerwinske was last seen on Tuesday, June 18th. Detectives have ruled out foul play.

Ms Czerwinske disappeared while walking near the cliffs. The alarm was raised when she failed to return to her hostel by morning.

Garda divers and the Donegal coastguard have carried out daily searches along the Glencolmcille shore. Yesterday's discovery was made by a garda, assisted by civilian volunteers. The State Pathologist, Dr Harbison, will conduct an autopsy today at Letterkenny General Hospital.

A spokesman for the Dooey hostel in Glencolmcille, where Ms Czerwinske had been staying, described her as a quiet, shy girl who was travelling alone and kept to herself. She had been touring Ireland, having already spent a number of days in Dublin.
