Astronomers have been given a new reason to watch their backs following the discovery of an Earth-crossing asteroid "behind" us, not further out in the solar system. The new asteroid is in orbit entirely within the Earth's orbit, placing it between the Sun and us, according to astronomers at the University of Hawaii. Early calculations of the new asteroid's orbit suggest it couldn't get closer than 750,000 miles to Earth.
