Dublin actor Stanley Townsend has won the award for best actor in the 1996 TMA British Regional Theatre Awards, presented yesterday at the Royal Armouries in Leeds. His performance as Danton in Trevor Griffiths's Who Shall Be Happy? beat British actors Brian Conley and David Tennant to the top prize.
