Beatles warn over use of logo

Toronto - The apple fell too close to the tree for the liking of the world's most famous rock band

Toronto - The apple fell too close to the tree for the liking of the world's most famous rock band. The Beatles' Apple Corps Ltd has threatened to sue two Canadian musicians over the packaging they used on their compact disc tribute to the Beatles, Beaten Path.

The 13 songs on the album are original but according to the Beatles' lawyer, Mr Paul LiCalsi, the distinctive B and extended T of the Beatles' logo are used in the title Beaten Path and one of the apples on the cover bears a striking resemblance to the Apple Records' apple logo.

"They don't like the shape of our apple is what it comes down to," said Beaten Path musician David Goyette. Apple Corps is owned by Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, George Harrison and John Lennon's widow, Ms Yoko Ono.
