BALLYBODEN ST ENDA'S 0-17 KILMACUD CROKES 0-7:Defending champions Ballyboden retained their Dublin Senior Hurling Championship crown with a comprehensive ten point triumph over Kilmacud at Parnell Park yesterday.

Crokes got the better start and led by four points to one after 17 minutes, but a fine ten minute spell before half-time helped Ballyboden go in one point to the good, leading 0-6 to 0-5.

Ballyboden raced from the traps after the break, hitting eight unanswered points in a 19-minute spell to lead 0-14 to 0-5.

Dublin Under-21 midfielder Shane Durkin and David Curtin were particularly impressive, with five points each, with their side's dominance summed up by the fact that Neil Casey had to wait until well into the second half to score Crokes' first point from play.

The Ballyboden half-back line of Stephen Hiney, Tim Sweeney and Simon Lambert were particularly effective, while Dave Sweeney also has a fine game.

Ballyboden now go on to face reigning Leinster champions Birr at Parnell Park next Sunday in the provincial quarter-final.

WEXFORD SFC FINAL/KILANERIN 1-12 GUSSERANE O'RAHILLY'S 0-12

Matty Forde contributed 11 points as Kilanerin claimed their first Wexford SFC success since 2003 at Wexford Park.

5,000 spectators watched an entertaining contest, with Gusserane hoping for a first title win since 1975, and they certainly showed great urgency throughout this game.

Forde scored all but one of their first-half points as Kilanerin went in 0-7 to 0-5 at the break.

Jim Hughes fired home the all-important goal in thje second half to help his side to their seventh Wexford SFC title and they go on to face Meath champions Navan O'Mahony's in the Leinster club championship.
