SYDNEY - Ivan Milat has lodged an appeal against his conviction for murdering seven backpackers in a remote Australian forest near Sydney between 1989 and 1992, a court spokeswoman said yesterday.

Milat (51), a road worker, was sentenced to life in prison by the New South Wales Supreme Court on July 27th for, murdering seven backpackers in the Belanglo State Forest, about 100km (60 miles) south west of Sydney.
