A three-month-old baby is being treated in hospital after a fire in east Belfast.

A three-month-old baby is being treated in hospital after a fire in east Belfast.

The PSNI said the baby and two adults were rescued from a top floor flat by fire officers this morning.

It is believed they are suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation.

Three flats were badly damaged in the blaze. Residents of the other two apartments - both elderly women - were also evacuated but were uninjured. One of the women is in her 90s.

Police are not treating the fire as suspicious.
