At least nine Russians, including five children, today when a methane gas canister exploded in a dormitory in the far northern Russian city of Kagalym.

The explosion occurred just one day after a similar blast toppled a portion of an apartment block in Moscow, killing eight people and injuring dozens.

Today's blast, in the Arctic Circle region of Khanty-Mansiysk, also caused part of the two-floor dormitory building to collapse, burying more than a dozen people, officials said.

Officials suspect that another 10 people may still be buried under the debris.
