Gardaí are investigating after a man who was found unconscious in Portlaoise this morning died in hospital.
The 52-year-old man was found Market Square at 3.20am and taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The scene remains preserved pending a full technical and forensic examination.
The State Pathologist is due at the scene and a postmortem will be carried out at the hospital.
