Gardaí believe the latest gun attack may be linked to other recent shootings on the south side of the city.

The scene was preserved yesterday for technical examination and detectives from Roxboro Road were carrying out house to house inquiries.

"At this point in time we believe a shotgun may have been used in the attack, but thankfully, nobody was injured," said a Garda spokesman.

On December 23rd, a man who had recently returned from England was shot in the stomach in John Carew Park - also on the south side of the city.

Gardaí said that incident may be drug-related. However, they ruled out any link with the ongoing bloody feud which has generally been concentrated on the north side of the city.
