Washington - US investigators said yesterday the pilots of the Alaska Airlines jet that crashed, killing all 88 people on board, talked of the plane flying upside down in the final moments before it plunged in the Pacific. National Transportation Safety Board chairman, Mr Jim Hall, told a news conference the crew had made references in a recording retrieved from the wreckage to the plane being "inverted".

Alaska Airlines Flight 261 was en route from Puerto Vallarta in Mexico to San Francisco when it developed problems that ultimately led to what eye witnesses described as a corkscrew plunge into the ocean off the coast of southern California on Monday.
