LONDON - Results of an international trial published yesterday in The Lancet suggest that combinations of drugs offer the best hope for beating AIDS.

Earlier this month, American scientists announced that a cocktail of three anti-AIDS drugs could reduce the HIV-1 virus to almost undetectable levels in infected people's bloodstreams, and predicted that a cure may be available within three years.
