Mr Seamus Kirk, TD for Co Louth, has been promoted to chairman of the Fianna Fáil parliamentary party.
He will succeed Mr Rory O’Hanlon, who was appointed Ceann Comhairle of the 29th Dáil.
The appointment was announced by the Taoiseach, Mr Ahern, at a Fianna Fáil’s parliamentary party meeting today.
