A company running bus services connecting the rail network to Dublin airport has shut down blaming ongoing track work.

AerDart Ltd said its 9 staff were informed of the decision to close this morning. Services will cease running at 8.30 on Sunday March 20th, next.

AerDart started business in April 2001 providing a shuttle service between connected Dublin Airport, the Dart and the eastern and national rail network.

The company said in a statement that falling passenger numbers and mounting losses were caused by weekend closures of the Dart and Northern suburban train line due to upgrade work.

AerDart MD Allen Parker said: "It is with great regret that we have to take this decision. Dart upgrade works have seriously impacted on the operation of the AerDart service and losses can not be sustained any further".

AerDart is owned by the ComfortDelGro Group which operates the Citylink intercity coach services.
