An eight-year-old boy has secured €450,000 in settlement of his High Court action over a shoulder injury allegedly sustained as a result of negligent management of his birth.
The action was brought by Brendan Leahy, suing through his mother Marie Leahy, Ballyspillane, Midleton, Co Cork, against Patrick Kieran, a consultant obstetrician with a practice at the Cork Clinic, Western Road, Cork. The proceedings were also taken against the Bon Secours Hospital, Cork. Both defendants denied the claims.
